Expat Latvia would like to invite you to take the opportunity to get professional support to facilitate and promote integration in Latvian society and culture closer family relationships.

The aim of the Project:

• To provide professional support for third - country nationals (with term or permanent residence permit in Latvia) and their family members.
• To facilitate and promote integration in Latvian society and culture closer family relationships.

Families are welcome (free of charge):

• to attend a support group for families of third country nationals (English or Russian languages groups)        *during support groups are provided the child's play/care group.
• to get individual psychotherapy and family counseling,
• to get support person (mentor) help,
• to participate in the family camp.

Families will be able to:

• get support in intercultural environment,
• receive individual or family counselling,
• to share their personal experiences with families,
• work together to overcome the myths and stereotypes of family and society,
• to find new family friends.

At the end of the Project will be organized the camp for families with children - a sense of community and intercultural dialogue, celebration of the common tradition of Latvian midsummer festival atmosphere.

The XXV Latvian Song and XV Dance Festival will be held from June 30 to July 7, 2013.

Latvians have always sung, since olden times, but only in the second half of the 19th century, still years before Latvia first gained its independence, did organized gatherings begin, where Latvians sang patriotic songs, and celebrated their national identity. In the early years, that is prior to 1918, these songs (and the emotions linked with the singing the songs’ lyrics) helped Latvians to maintain hope that one day in the future a free and independent Latvia would be born.

Song festivals, which officially started in 1873, provided an opportunity to display the richness of Latvian culture, and started a tradition that still continues today.

This is a nation-wide event bringing together Latvians from all over Latvia and the world.
